Travelling to Europe for weekend

In couple of weeks myself and 2 others are planning flying to Denmark for 2 nights Friday to a Sunday. Denmark say we don’t need to have test to enter Denmark as we all double vaccinated.

UK say we have to have a test to enter back in Uk. Could we do a test in Uk on Friday morning as this would be within 72 hours? Is another test still then required on day 2 after arrival so 2 tests required?

    Yes and yes.

You can technically do the test in the UK. But, they cannot be NHS tests so you will have to pay privately even though you're taking them in the UK.

Yes you will need to pay for a Day 2 test. This needs booking before flying back to the UK as the test booking reference needs inserting into your passenger locator form.

Am I correct saying the first one can be a rapid flow test, we could get that done at airport and get result within hour before we fly?
The second one can be a pre booked PCR home kit sent to home?

That's right. A Rapid Antigen Test is acceptable to fly back into the UK. You will need a certificate to show you're negative which must be in English (or French or Spanish).

As you say, your PCR test will be delivered to your house. But, there are also options to have them done at test centres or even at the airport the day you arrive back to get it out of the way as they can be taken up to Day 2
