Paying upfront with credit card

In order to gain Nectar points need to spend £400 in next two months on Sainsbury’s credit card.  Wondered what I could pay upfront for with credit card?  Council Tax, local authority only allows debit cards.  Don’t have any subscriptions except Cineworld Unlimited.  Is there anything out that that takes advance payments by cc?  Thanks

Phone Bill? - I can pay EE up to £200 online
Top up Amazon account -  You can use the credit later?

Would you not get through £200 a month just using it for everyday stuff like food, petrol, whatever?  The above suggestion from jay1804 is a good idea - just be careful though, buying gift cards (if that's what was meant my "topping up Amazon") often don't qualify for rewards, points etc.

Almost all councils should accept credit cards along with debit cards, just usually not Amex.

This is true. And for example, the council where I live doesn't accept ANY credit card payments for council tax. But other councils do. Depends where you live, I guess.

Why does it have to be in advance? Can't you just buy food, at Saino's maybe . . . or anywhere else . . . then pay it off before you're charged interest? £400 over two months is only £50 per week, you should be able to manage that. No?

You'd need to check the T&Cs for the specific card - but gift vouchers are very often excluded from any points/rewards.
