Universal Credit - Limited Capability for work and work related activity payment date issue

hello, I'm hoping someone can help me please, as I'm having no luck speaking to anyone at DWP, or with getting responses on my journal entry. I have been found not capable for work, or work related activity or to prepare for work, which I believe means I'm entitled to higher rate of UC. I received my work capability decision letter on the 6th June.
I first submitted my sick note on the 21st April, and submitted sick nota continuously until the 6th June when the decision letter came in.
My assessment periods run from the 16th - to the 15th of the month - so from the 16th April to the 15th May, and so forth, and I'm paid on the 22nd of the month.

I was told that I would receive the increase of payment on my August statement but still no increase, I'm not getting any responses to my journal entry. And now when I'm calling I'm being told I will get the increase on my September statement, as you have to wait 3 months from the date of the decision letter - but that isn't what it says on the letter, or what I've been previously been told, or what I've read? I'm not really trusting what I'm being told as I was assured it would happen in August.

Is anyone able to advise or had any luck with this please? I'm really struggling, and I'm having deductions being taken from my basic UC from an advance I stupidly took out last year when I was very unwell (I live with bipolar disorder which wasn't diagnosed until December 2020).

Thank you in advance.
Elise

So you submitted your fit note in the April/May AP, which means the fourth full AP will be the August/September AP, so getting it in the September statement is correct.

You are right that it is counted based on when you submit the fit note, you have to wait 3 full APs from that (not from the decision).  But because you submitted it part of the way through the April/May AP that one doesn't count as a whole one towards the 3.

May/June, June/July, July/August are your waiting period, then you'll get it from the August/September AP onwards.

You say you submitted your fit note on 21st April but when did you actually report your health condition? Once you report your health condition then you have 7 days to send a fit note.
  • Thank you, I reported the health change on the 20th April, I submitted the fit note on the 21st April through my journal, and then my work coach asked me to email the actual fit note to the Brighton job centre on the 23rd April. An agent then put on the 23rd April 'provide Fit Note Completed' on my journal. From then on I just declared my fit note from my doctor each month until June when my decision letter came through.

    Thank you.

Then the advice given is correct as you reported the health condition part way through April/May AP then this month doesn't count. You will receive your first payment for LCWRA in with your September payment.

Advice given is correct above.  You can also claim 50% of the LCWRA element now in the form of a change of circumstances advance now your in the third AP, but this will obviously put you into debt with up to 6 months to pay it back.  Handy for those struggling now though if they can afford the repayments easily with the increased UC during the repayment period
  • Thank you for all for your responses! I've still heard nothing from the DWP so very grateful for your advice.

As they don't owe you any backdated money, once you've had the decision letter onto your journal there's no further contact regarding your LCWRA award. Your extra money will be in with your September payment and will show your statement for that month.
