Good day,
Apologies if this has been discussed already. I am a private seller on eBay. As many others I have been forced to move to eBay managed payments earlier this year. Recently, about a month ago I received a message asking me to provide a Photo ID before I will be allowed to received any payouts.
In order to complete our verification process, we are asking you
to provide a photo ID (such as a passport or drivers license/state ID).
Your ID will be used to validate the identity information you provided
previously. We also request that you upload a copy of a recent bank
statement so we can verify your bank details. Until you provide us with this documentation, your payouts are on hold. If your eBay
account information does not match your ID exactly, we also ask that
you update any information that differs from your ID before you proceed
with the upload.
Please ensure the ID document you provide includes your: (1)Full legal name and the ID number (2)Date of birth. Additionally, the document you provide needs to: (1)Be current (not expired) (2)Be in color (3)Contain the full document with no part of the document obscured or cropped (4)Contain the complete MRZ code (if providing a passport) (5)Contain Front and Back of the ID document (if providing driver's license/State ID) (6) Be an official government-issued ID document
Also, please upload a bank statement that: (1)Includes the name and address of the account owner or business entity (2)Includes the bank's name • Lists the bank account number (at least the last 4 digits) (3)Is less than 3 months old (if providing a dated document)

Has anyone else received a similar request?
I am not very keen on providing this data to eBay, as this seems to me too much to ask
but I am planning a clear out, so would like to sell a number of items soon-ish.

Comply or forget ebay. Not much else you can do.Although I guess quite a few people will not have photo ID. I don't.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

I appreciate I have a limited choice. My question was whether it is "a new norm" or do I get a special treatment for some reason.

Is it because you are having trouble getting your bank account recognised? They said this to me as I couldn’t get ebay to recognise my bank as entered info about 4 times.
in the end I used their link to my bank and it worked and I never heard anymore about the photo id
If you don’t like a thread or post just move on by.
Never a need to be ugly1 -
I don't think they ask everyone for this ID but it's also not uncommon; we've had a few threads here from people understandably being sceptical but it is legit.Emily_Joy said:I appreciate I have a limited choice.
