Maintenance loan or universal credit?

I am going back to education to get my degree that I put off whilst raising children. I am currently on universal credit with my husband working full time, so the UC makes up the difference. I am wondering if it would be better financially in the long term to stay on UC whilst studying or apply for a maintenance loan. What are the rules? And what are the financial implications?

If you apply to study and a student loan is available to you then you will be classed as taking the maximum available whether you take it or not, you don't get a choice in the matter.
How that affects your eligibility for UC will depend upon your whole circumstances.
