Barclays, the closed account, and accidental payments

So:

Credit card in collections. Managed to pay it off in full in June. Done, closed, dead. Apparently didn't cancel my standing order properly. One payment taken, one pending that if I phone in 48hours they'll sort out or, supposedly automatically refund. Guy on phone, eventually, after me pointing out Julys payment could not have gone towards my balance as there wasn't one, said it was refunded on the 26th. I do not have it showing in my (Santander) bank account. Likely to have sent a cheque which is floating in the post? Need to talk to someone else?

Having recently closed my Barclaycard/s when they decided in their ultimate wisdom to decimate my limit and give me an unusable £750?? I found the only real way of getting a 'final' result regarding closure was to ring them. I also slipped up and left a subscription still running and they allowed this to go through BUT easily resolved by logging on and paying off and of course switching the subscription to another card.

As an aside I am still able to access my account for 60 days starting from closure date, I guess this is so I can 'tidy up' any loose ends I have/may have missed.
