What Small DFW Things Will You Do This Week 16/08/21?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important 😀

Morning folks
Erm excuse me but where is August going?! The whole summer is whipping past me.
Bit of a groggy start and dealing with an email from my LL about the windows. On the plus side, she has reimbursed me the money I paid to the locksmith. Which is kind of her and I hope she can get it back from the windows company. Also on the plus side, all the rigmarole has meant that it's saved my neightbours ordering windows with the same people.
I need to start focussing on my small things - we've had a bit of post-lockdown blowout - understandable and we had enough luckily due to sudden crazy amounts of work but need to reign it in. OH got very overexcited looking at smallholdings in Wales yesterday(!!!) so who knows?!
Nipped to the allotment yesterday and also bought a bale of straw from a local farm shop to put under the pumpkins/squashes and to the build a potato clamp at some point this week or next. We had homegrown potatoes, thyme, onion and garlic in our dinner last night and it made me very happy. Assuming our garlic lasts ok, we have enough to last the whole year I think!
Here's my list of small things today:B/L/D from stores
End of month budget sheet
Bit of knitting for that blanket. I felt very guilty as have not worked on it for a bit
Sow carrots and lettuces
Look in shop for late leek varieties - they don't have any
Go to post office to post gift - done
Have a good one all
clf x

Good afternoon @carrielovesfanta and thanks for kicking off this weeks thread. I'm with you on the Summer flying past!! Time really is going just far too fast for my liking!
In the way of small things in the last couple of days
* more kids friends over (which meant feeding picky eaters unfortunately BUT it did mean I used up a couple of bags of beige food from the bottom of the freezer)
* picked up a little black dress when I popped into the charity shop over the weekend, its a Dorothy Perkins one and it was only £1.50I bought it thinking I'd slim a bit more into it (I've managed to lose about 4.5st this last year so far) its a size 10 and I was amazed to get it home to find that it actually fits right now!! - was amazed at how many size 22+ clothes there were.... when I was that size I could never find anything in the cs's to fit!
* started a shopping list as I'm getting back into shopping in Aldi rather then click and collect from Tescos as we have for the last 18 months - I found going into the shop last week that I spent far more then I would have done in Tesco as I picked up far more then I needed but I hadn't gone with a list so thats a small things habit I need to get back to!
* banking all checked and cashbook updated
* got box of ds1's old clothes out and ds2 now has two "new" pairs of jeans
* updated freezer inventory and done a meal plan for the week
* put a recycling bag in the wardrobe so that I can add clothes for the cs in as and when..
* washed a load on the quick 30 degree wash and hung out on the line.. then brought in as it rained... then put out and then it rained again so its all hung up with the dehumidifier now!
* going to check the fruit bowl and make a crumble if stuff needs using up
* going to have salmon & veggies with noodles tonight as I need to use up some cabbage, carrots and onions!
Thats enough for now, take care all.Sticking with the "Small things" thread to keep up us on the straight and narrow.

Been selected for another Zoom call next week so more money in savings for me! @carrielovesfanta Do you have any suggestions on what fruit or veggies I can grow which are hardy? I have a tiny green house with 2 cucumber plants growing and I have to pots of strawberries! I want to try and grow some more stuff that the cats won't attack
Sold some things on ebay, they got posted this morning!
