Tesco Car Parks

In my area several of the Tesco car parks are totally free and I have not noticed any signage before. Some of my neighbours have actually parked on the car park overnight when it has been snowing as cars get stuck on some of the estate roads.

Today I noticed a sign in the car park from Horizon. I have never seen any signs before however I often walk to the supermarket. I did wonder if it was because they have recently installed charging points for electric cars on the car park. There are some car parking spaces that have been turned into charging points.

The car park has never been a problem with plenty of spare spaces even in the few days before Christmas. This means now that they will be targeting all drivers who commit a minor transgression not just drivers who park in a charging point space. Is there no end to this?

Fortunately in my area we are not cursed with Tesco, just a few small local shops.
Aldi and Lidl seem to be the strongest for the big stores and loads of Co-op's all with their own small free car parks.

Sad that Tesco has the worst customer service and their hate for customers by employing these money grabbers

I read that either Aldi or Lidl are opening another 100 stores in the UK. Both these companies are quite good at cancelling parking tickets, many don't have parking companies

No doubt we will see the next wave of the big supermarkets price matching which is pointless if a customer faces a £100 ticket

have they installed ANPR cameras as well?

    From the Plain Language Commission:

Unlikely.  My tesco has had signs and a 3 hr restriction (no ANPR) for ages. Essentially to stop people parking and spending the day at the adjacent hospital.

I've never seen a car with a PCN, but I suspect if you left one there for 48hrs you might. It's the very function discussed in beavis - to facilitate car park/customer churn.

I haven't noticed any ANPR any signage at the entrance. I only saw just one sign near to the supermarket entrance. The car park has never been a problem as it is in the middle of a housing development and many people walk and use it as a corner shop.  I think that this is a result of the charging points.

I lived Near london up to 12 months ago most of the Tesco car parks had Horizon anpr with awful sparse signage. I now live in Devon and they have the same, our local (awful) Coop has Horizon with an attendant and he is on cars overstaying like a shot.

If they own the car park  and only want their actual customers using it ... seems reasonable to me.

I've seen Horizon at my local Colney Hatch TESCO, I think it is max 3 hours, with some no return time.
My previous local TESCO in Salford had an operator with half-hearted signs, I think there was no time limit and I never saw tickets on the numerous cars in disabled spaces with no BB.
I've parked in both hundreds of times without problems.  I parked in a space with no disabled sign on it that was in between a load of spaces that did have disabled signs, hundreds of times, with no problems.
Just check their terms, park in legit space, check 'no return', if you are worried about double dip, camera phone pic of car before you go back there.

Signage at the Colney Hatch Horizon seems good, it's clear they are operating for sure.
