Hello and I hope some of you remember me.
I'm in a right old muddle
I had a new job for a year, loved it but handed my notice in because I found an even better job, first job very sad to see me go.
New job is due to start 1st September in a school.
Sadly, I'm in hospital with covid and pneumonia and nearly lost the battle but I'm pulling thru but probably won't be home in the next few days, maybe a week! Don't know how long it will take to recover
I haven't signed any contacts with my new job yet but I really REALLY WANT THIS JOB and of course I'll explain it all to HR and hope they understand.
A massive worry is that I've been given a drug that has knocked out my immune system for about 4 months and I'm petrified to mix again!
Do I go back to work if I feel ok, should I go back to work if I feel ok and I know this isn't really the right forum to ask these questions so my real question is about universal credit of which I still receive a little coz I'm a single mum.
If I can't work straight away will UC understand or will I be penalised in any way?
Any advice, thank you

Have you reported your health condition to UC? Ask hospital if they can give you a Fit Note when they discharge you. If they do, a hospital Fit Note is usually short term so you will need to follow up with one from your GP.
Good luck with your recovery.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.0 -
Just to say I was given a four week fit note when I was discharged from hospital - maybe worth asking if they can do this0
