HSBC Switch is a scam

You actually don't want a credit score of 999 as it shows that either you have very little credit use or that HSBC won't make any money from you.

A scam rather implies you have lost something and they have gained something. Could you please help us understand what you have lost (other than time spent on application, presumably dwarfed by time spent authoring and replying to this thread by now) and what HSBC have gained?

No, it is not a scam, and it is not wise to make false accusations.
What I would do is, go to the branch like they asked you to.
When I opened my HSBC account, I was told to go to branch. When you speak to someone in person, far more easier to get things done. They might give you the advanced account if you ask in person.0
