    An excellent and simple idea but might require baboon arms!  It's about 4 feet from the lid to the hole!!

    You might be able to stick something like this over the top. I've repaired a few pond liners by using similar tape, and going over the edges of the tape with more tape.

    Mine has a teeny leak as well. Blob of silicone on the outside (as it was full) two months ago as a temporary repair. Still holding, so I'll probably just put a blob of silicone on the inside too when it's empty just for good measure and I reckon that will see us through the winter.
