Washing machine seal

Looks like the door was shut when there was something hard lying along the bottom. This isn't normal wear and tear.0

I would say a metal zip or something sharp of that nature dragged across when loading the machine and unless you make that part from steel - then it wouldn't act as a seal - it would be impossible to make it completely damage resistant. A bit like a car door seal, how many of them do you see damaged by being kicked when getting in ? Perfectly fit for purpose and durable unless you kick the crap out of it0

As others have mentioned, it looks something hard and sharp has been caught between the door and door seal. That's down to user error I'm afraid. If it were a bra wire then I think you'll discover most washing machine manufactures advise putting items like this inside wash bags as well as turning clothes with zips or potentially sharp accessories inside out before loading.0

Just contact them and tell them about the seal and you'd like them to look at it. If you don't ask, you're going to get absolutely nothing. When you spend that much money you would expect a washing machine seal to withstand a bit of wear and tear for many years.
Don't be put off by the naysayers here. You are entitled to have an inspection, at the very least. It's very disappointing if a washer only lasts 8 months.
I believe that you have a VERY reasonable grievance. (And I'm not afraid.) Please do read the information in the following link about the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and also, contact Citizens Advice, as per info in the link. Goods we buy have to be 'fit for purpose' and I'm not sure that your washer was.

I have the same problem with the door seal. I do not believe after owning the machine the seals are 'fit for purpose' (Consumer Rights Act 2015) and mine has not lasted a reasonable amount of time. Therefore it was not of 'satisfactory quality' (Consumer Rights Act 2015). As a result of this fault, the water leaking makes it unsafe and damaged to my floor occurred so a claim may be possible now against the manufacturer directly (Consumer Protection Act 1987 )- in addition to the retailer where I should claim. Do not be scared of using the Small Claims Court.
A number of people have the same problem who have never experienced this using other machines in the same way for decades. But can see how it looks to others, These individuals testimony like mine support the view it is an inherent fault in the machines-so communicate and post online with others. Up until 6 months a consumer website suggest it is up to the retailer to prove it is not an inherent fault as it is assumed it will be. Afterwards the consumer has the burden to prove, but check this- an independent report from an engineer or expert witness could be obtained seek to reclaim this cost.
I believe the outer wire under the seal (that has sharp exposed edges) cut into this fragile seal in my case. We only put towels and bedding in.
Due to the amount of other people experiencing this same issue and their experience with washing machines, I believe the fault is inherent to these machines . Samsung has a 'triage' for seals (consider why) and denied responsibility initially. Now they stick bigger stickers near the seal warning of issues you will not normally need to consider, from your already well practice use of washing machines.
Also the seal is cheap to buy and easy to fit but fitting yourself will invalidate the 'warranty' in my case 5 years. Which I advise you inspect as it was not what I expected of a warranty or have experienced in the past with other manufacturers.0 -
