Deed of Variation for doubling ground rent
I’m wondering if anyone has dealt with having a deed of variation completed somewhere in their chain? I’m number 4 in a chain of 5 the number 1/2 people are having a deed of variation that is apparently done but are waiting for it to be signed by the property management company. This so far has taken 2 weeks to no avail, this is holding up our chain and move. Us at the top of the chain have been ready for over a month for exchange and we were fold everyone else was too until this cropped up (after days and days of hiding the truth from us) they say they are chasing this daily but why is it taking so long for the paper to be signed if it’s already been done and apparently agreed?

Because the management company have absolutely no motivation for signing it, it doesn't matter to them. It's probably just sat at the bottom of a pile somewhere and they'll get round to it eventually.

Are you sure it's the management company, rather than the freeholder, that you're waiting for? Are the terms definitely agreed?
Some 'nasty' freeholders might play games - as time passes, and everyone gets more desperate, they might decide to ask for more money - which causes more arguments and delays.
For example, the freeholder might say..."We originally said £5k premium, but we've now decided we want £10k, and if you don't pay us the £10k, you won't be able to sell."
But equally, it might just be that with COVID etc, people aren't in the office all the time etc - so thing get delayed.
