Could you just have a couple of matching comfy chairs instead of a sofa? Would they fit any better? Something to think about.

Also, many congratulations on becoming a homeowner!   :)
Yes that’s a possibility actually! I’ve been to look at 2 seater and small sofas today, so hopefully something like that could work (and maybe keep the window seat). I’m going to measure next week, so that will help me decide.

Aw thank you so much! It’s very scary! But really exciting :) I feel very lucky to be able to do it completely on my own with how things are at the moment.. crazy time to be a FTB!

Can't see any pictures on this computer so can't comment on the layout at all but do be careful to measure the entrances and the furniture you buy to make sure it will fit.

Our previous house - a very old semi - had a very narrow door that really limited the size of sofas or even arm chairs that could be brought inside.  We found a great arm chair at Homesense once and didn't realise how much of a problem it was until we got it home.  Ended up lifting it over the 9 foot high side gate (wouldn't fit through it) and managed to get it in through the kitchen door and then into the living room.  The sofa was managed (just) through the front door only due to the fact that the legs could be removed.  When we moved out even the movers had problems shifting things!!

Good luck with it all - such an adventure!!!

Hi! Oh that is such a good suggestion - I didn’t even think of that! I’m going this week so I will remember to bring my tape measure for the day, thank you!

And thank you so much, it’s an old house so I’m sure I’ll have a few surprises - but I am excited for such a big step! :)

My friend has a minuscule front room and the sofa under the window. I've done that wth mine on occasion. It gives you a great light for reading or other hobbies. Surprisingly cosy too.
I keep a notebook in my bag with measurements for bits and pieces I need. Also a small tape measure. You never know when you're going to stumble across something desirable and it s useful to see if it will fit before you get carried away.
Also paper colour swatches. The ones you get of multiple paint shades are handy.
    Good luck.

OP, we live in a mid terrace but we don't have a porch. Our sofa runs with it's back as though there was a corridor from the front door to the inside door. A second sofa runs across the inside wall facing the window. If you enjoy watching TV, you'd be better with your TV in the corner near the window facing inwards, otherwise you get a lot of reflection.
Someone mentioned getting rid of your porch. I wouldn't. We'd love one on ours but can't fit one in. Will make a big difference in the winter when you don't get a huge blast of cold air every time someone opens the front door.

I agree with this layout. The room dimensions and furniture should be taken into consideration.
