Credit declined by O2

Options
In early June I upgraded my mobile phone.  After many years with EE I found a deal with O2 on Uswitch that EE couldn’t match.
I applied online and waited for my new phone.  It didn’t arrive within the promised 24hrs and instead, 2 days later,  I received an email from O2 saying my credit had been declined.
I was horrified, having never had problems before, I have no debts, my mortgage is paid off, my bills are paid on time and I have a credit card which I pay in full every month.  The email gave me an option to appeal which I did straightaway.  I also sent an email of complaint to Uswitch.
Yesterday I received a reply from O2 apologising for the delay in replying and saying that as my application for appeal was over 30 days ago I would need to reapply.  Astounding.
In a strop I replied that I was now pleased they’d declined my credit as I would hate to be tied into a 2yr contract with such an incompetent company!
Even worse were Uswitch who didn’t even acknowledge my complaint.
Has anyone else had issues like this?  I know it seems petty and I should let it go (cue the song) but such awful customer service really annoys me.

(p.s. I found an equally good deal with Sky Mobile who accepted me straight away)

Yes, others have been declined for credit.  It's nothing personal.

Make sure you check all your files from time to time to make sure everything is as it should be.
  • Check all 3 of your credit files just in case, if there is nothing untoward, perhaps O2 just don't want you.
  • I have just experienced the same thing... however, I reapplied 10 mins later and changed my title to Dr from Mr. RESULT! So O2 only after doctors now?

Not sure why you felt it necessary to resurrect a 2-year-old thread to tell us this - but are you actually a Dr.?  That aside, it sounds very odd - your title would have no bearing on the data contained within your credit files.

Assuming the OP actually is a Dr., if they are usually using the prefix Dr. and then used the prefix Mr., it may be that the searches undertaken linked to a thin / non-existent credit file for Mr. FT but with the data entered as Dr. FT, the searches linked to a fuller record and therefore satisfactory.
