Advice needed

Hi,
I would appreciate advice please.
I would appreciate advice please.
I am currently pregnant and not with the child’s father. In order to claim child maintenance does he have to be named on the birth certificate?
I don’t really want to put him on there for a number of reasons but mainly down to the fact that I don’t think he should have parental responsibility. I have said he can have supervised access to the child, once born but nothing else.
Thanks

And if he goes for a parental responsibility order?1

No, he doesn't have to be named on the birth certificate. This web page might help you understand what might happen if he tries to suggest he is not the father:
Manage your Child Maintenance Service case: Disagreements about parentage - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)
The best way to manage the situation is a) to avoid falling out with the father and b) get the father to voluntarily pay at least the amount of child maintenance that the Child Maintenance Service (CMS) calculate he should.
If he will not pay, ask the CMS to help you and let him make and prove any claim that he is not the father of the child. The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.1 -
Thank goodness the family courts are more supportive of fathers these days!
Cms will always advise you try and come to an arrangement between yourselves first. (Best option also if he’s self employed)
If you go down the collect and pay route they charge you a percentage of what you receive.3 -
You begin with the CMS they get in contact with him asking him his work/financial situation. If he denies parental responsibility they arrange a DNA test. If he's proven the father he then pays for said DNA testing and then begins to pay his Child Support..1

And regardless of being on the birth certificate or not, once DNA proves he is the father he can have all the access he craves, unless courts deem him unacceptable etc3

This child belongs to both of you. Unless there is a safety reason for him not seeing the baby, and thats down to the courts rather than yourself, then he is entitled to access.
My mother did not put my fathers name on my birth certificate, Im in my 60s now and still resent her for that.4 -
OP, why do you think you have all the rights to the child while the father can only have the bones you throw him?
And to top it off by expecting him to pay while denying him the right to be named as father!
Your child has the right to have its father named on the birth certificate, and thank god, its not your decision regarding access.
I was a single mother, but believe the more people a child has to love them, the better5 -
This is a very touchy situation for me but let’s just say he has spent some time
at her majesty’s pleasure and turns out is not the ideal candidate for a parent. It’s not a choice I made lightly but after finding out who he really is it’s safer for the baby. I also didn’t have my father on my birth certificate and resented my mom for it but he is not a good person. Social services have contacted me to ensure he has no contact with the child
and he is also not allowed to see his eldest child. I have been told he would not get parental responsibility through the courts due to him serving more than 10 years and still on licence. (I found this out after the fact) thank you for the info i
