Worried I’ve messed my universal credit claim up
Hi everyone this is abit of a weird one I appreciate.
From 2014-2019 I was claiming ESA in the highest rate.
I moved in with my partner in 2019 and was switched to universal credit.
At the time, I was told I didn’t need to do anything as my benefits would just be ‘moved over’ onto UC. I wouldn’t need an assessment or anything like that.
For some reason at our meeting with a work coach in 2019 she added on our ‘to do’ list that I needed to supply a fit note from my doctor. I was then told by another advisor that I didn’t need to supply the fit note as they already had information that I was moving over from ESA.
For some reason the request for a fit note always remained on my ‘to do list’ on our online UC account but nothing more came of it.
We were paid as normal and an element has been included every month called the limited work capability element? Or something for myself. I’ve never had to supply a fit note or do anything about it. I assume because they knew I had limited capability for work due to my previous ESA claim.
Today I was messing around with my UC account online and accidentally clicked on the ‘supply fit note’ on my to do list, that has been sat there for years now.
It wouldn’t let me leave the page without ‘cancelling’ the change, so I cancelled it and left it.
I then checked my journal on UC where it said I had cancelled a change and the ‘supply a fit note’ was now gone from my to do list.
I’m now terrified that UC will see this as me claiming I’m no longer too unwell to claim the limited capability for work element. I never wanted to ‘make’ or ‘cancel’ a change in the first place. It was just there on my to do list and I accidentally clicked on it. Up until now it has been on there for years.
Has anyone got any advice? I’ve no idea what I’m doing with all of this.
Thanks

Hi. You don't need to do anything. I am going to go out on a limb and say that deleting the "Supply a fit note" task from your To-do list will NOT affect your limited capability for work status. This will have been carried over from ESA, and can only be changed by a reassessment of your work capability.
The lesson here perhaps is not to mess around with your UC account. The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.2
