Day 2 testing for children under 11?

So, I understand that there is no testing for children under 11 while away and before return to the UK. But apparently all children over 4 yo must still have a PCR test on day 2 returning from an amber list country, in this case Spain.
This kind of sticks in my throat a little.
Last time I travelled back and did a day 2 test, no one even checked or asked. How will the authorities police this anyway?

There is a reason why there is only a list of allowed vendors and you get a code to enter into your PLR... firstly they can know from that who isnt following the rules of buying the tests. In theory the authorities could equally be told of all test results and no shows of tests though I believe in practice they are currently only being told of people who test positive.
I assume you were good and did your test which is why there was no need for anyone to ask or check.0 -
I actually came on here just now as I did not realise this until yesterday. I thought all children under 12 were exempt from tests. The differences in ages for children in fit to fly, the 3 day return test and the 2 day test are confusing. I am taking a 10 year old away so I have been reading closely.
However the 10 year old has tested positive for Covid in June and we were told they should not test within 90 days, unless they had symptoms, as it could result in a false positive. Does anyone know how this works as she will be day 2 tested within 90 days?
I also don't know how this will be tracked, I assumed when you load the code into your passenger form the test provider would use that code to update records? The most potent weapon of the oppressor is the mind of the oppressed. Steve Biko0 -
Well I am not going to risk anything and will buy 3 day 2 tests. It's just that I only just found out about it and it didn't make sense. Kids don't need a test 72 hours before flying back.

More proof that this country is very child unfriendly.1 -
So, I am just trying to purchase the day 2 tests for myself and two children. It doesn't seem possible to do it all in one transaction.
This means that I have to purchase 3 separate tests and get 3 separate codes and then fill in 3 separate locator forms before returning?0 -
Each adult passenger has to do a separate passenger locator form anyway .
For children travelling with an adult there is a section of the form to list all the details for each child individually.1 -
I found the cheapest tests from Expert Medical at the cost of £28. It looks genuine at least and even provided me with a code to use for the locator form! I'll find out while I am away if it's genuine

I'm using EXPERT-MEDICALS.CO.UK as 71peyman71 has mentioned for when we go away in September; I need x6 tests which total £168 which I'm happy to pay if it means I get to spend much needed quality time with daughter, SIL, 2x grandchildren given the fact that we dont live close to them

With Expert medicals you have to pay the postage to return it to them . So you need to add that cost into your calculations too .
From their T&C “2.6 Please note that the service that Expert Medicals provides does not include collection from your address. If you are purchasing a Home Test Kit, it is your obligation to arrange for the Home Test Kit to be returned to the designated laboratory address to fit your time scale. Such time scale or time frame is your prerogative, and not the obligation of Expert Medicals.”
Not great reviews but if you don’t need the result to end quarantine then picking a cheap provider makes sense from a money saving point of view.
