Zanussi Fridge Repair - Breach of Contract?
Comments

No, there was a repair. Worked for a while then failed. Then there was a subsequent repair - same story.
Are you arguing that as the "repair" (i.e. the engineer left having got the appliance working) failed (within 3 months) it wasn't a repair after all?

No, there was no repair. They failed to repair it.EP said:No, there was a repair. Worked for a while then failed. Then there was a subsequent repair - same story.

Depending on how much effort you wish to go to, it would be interesting to have an independent appliance company out to see if it can be repaired for under £500.
Really the £500 limit should be detailed on the overview to make it clearer. In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces0 -

You're arguing that as initial repair failed it never happened? Therefore there was no repair?
In the original post I stated there was a repair (which failed) - why didn't you read that? "Strange that all of a sudden you "remember" that he actually fixed it" Strange that you don't bother to read the thread.
The £500 relates to 4.1.2 not 4.2.
Again - you are completely out of your depth.

You said the repair was "unsuccessful." I literally quoted your OP. And the repair was unsuccessful. That it briefly sputtered back to life doesn't mean it was repaired. And it clearly wasn't repaired, as it's dead again.EP said:ThisnotThat said:

the engineer tried something to fix it which in the face of it seemed to repair it but that wasn't the issue (or the only issue) ergo, not repaired.0 -
Your posts are becoming increasingly incoherent and full of errors. I'm not going to bother replying to you anymore. I'll give you the benefit of doubt you're not doing it on purpose.

You could just say "You're right, I'm wrong. You win." I promise I won't laugh (much.)EP said:Your posts are becoming increasingly incoherent and full of errors. I'm not going to bother replying to you anymore. I'll give you the benefit of doubt you're not doing it on purpose.0 -
What happened:
- Initial repair (thermostat + re-gassed) unsuccessful
- Second visit – engineer considered unrepairable
Where does that say that the repair was successful for a little while?
I know whose posts I find getting incoherent.0 -
Yes quite.sheramber said:What happened:- Initial repair (thermostat + re-gassed) unsuccessful

And I don't think it's unreasonable for Zanussi to claim it was not repaired.
I do wonder whether the OP would consider their fridge repaired if Zanussi didn't have this guarantee of a refund if the repair fails. I suspect not, and they'd be up in arms if they said "We repaired your fridge, if you want us to look at it again it'll be another £135"0 -
Presumably in the context that the first engineer left after changing the part.sheramber said:What happened:- Initial repair (thermostat + re-gassed) unsuccessful

I know whose posts I find getting incoherent. Are we suggesting the second engineer came out because the first engineer was simply stumped at facing a non-working fridge after changing the part and so just left the job?In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces1
