O/S Daily Thursday 12 August 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now light but cloudy, dry underfoot and no rain forecast.
DH and DS1 getting ready for work I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was roast leftovers - some veg and gravy added. Tonight I'm not sure what we'll be having so need to sort that. Last day of working week for me, quite glad as it's been manic all week again. Doesn't look like it's going to improve that much any time soon.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all.
Thanks for the thread nmlc and hugs to all those in need.
Moving again today,no idea if there will be Wi-Fi or not but it's market day so I'm hoping to get some shopping. I'm down to the last four meals in the freezer and cupboards and I'm desperate for some fruit and veg.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.9 -
Morning folks.Yesterday the rain persisted until teatime when the sun decided to make a late appearance. It was cold too, cold enough for me to light the stove. I was busy all day sorting out more stuff, it seems like I didn't really stop doing things. New storage boxes arrived which meant I spent a lot of time cutting up cardboard - one huge box and one medium one, mind you I enjoy using the box-cutter!The invitation cards for the celebration in September arrived, they are really lovely apart from a mistake I made in the information. ☹️ I gave the designer the wrong location and hadn't spotted it when I proofread the draft. I printed out labels for the back of the cards with the correct info, printed out the address labels and got them all ready to give to the postie. He comes here very late, usually around 3.30pm, I'm the second last house on his very long route.Happily, the postie brought me a parcel of books I had sent to a wrong address in London. The books are my DM's German cookery books which I'd sent to family member who had moved. We both thought that they were lost but back they came. 😀 Now they're readdressed and ready to be sent again. I was so relieved.Today I'm going up to Oban. I found a BHF shop there to hand over the final bags of DM's things and I've a bag of coins to deposit. The bank there should have a counting machine.I hope that everyone is doing well. Happy Thursday to all.11

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. It looks as though we had a little bit of rain in the night but the sun is now shining and another lovely day is forecast.
Lovely meal at the carvery with family yesterday and managed to cram in a delicious crumble and custard afterwards too. After 3 days of eating out (the wrong stuff!) I am feeling rather blown up this morning so a few days of sensible eating to compensate is in store. DD and the girls are off to the caravan today for a few days, though eldest DD will be back and forth (lifts permitting) for her training for her part time job.
I might at last get on with the much postponed and neglected jobs now as no plans for the next few days. But I might be tempted outside with my book now and then if the sun keeps shining!
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all the poorlies, poorly loved ones and MIA. Thinking of you all. Take care everyone and stay safe x

Morning all.
Bright and sunny here and the first load of washing is in the machine. Catching up day today so I must do a SM shop as we're having a family bbq here on Saturday; need to sort out what we're eating.
DH has a voucher for one of the chain restaurants that will go out of date soon so we will use that for a late lunch today and then I need to leave the house at 5.30pm to go down the M1 for an extra music rehearsal prior to an event later in August.
Finally booked our IoWight trip for September; should have done it the other week as the prices have now gone up! Not by much but I'm really surprised at the cost of the most expensive P Inn. This time I've booked with a 3 day cancellation clause, just in case anything happens.
Happy Thursday(s) everyone.9 -
Had a had a phone call yesterday from the hospital to go for an urgent MRA scan today as there is a concern about spinal cord compression. Managed to organise transport. We have no public transport at all and the hospital is 20 miles away. A kind neighbour is taking me because even if I drove I could not walk from the car park. Not looking forward to it but I suppose it needs to be done.
glad you had a good day yesterday TA9 -

Morning All
Last day of my long holiday, back to the grind tomorrow. The sun is shining but it's quite chilly this morning. Washing on the line including one of the sofa throws, good job it was on as I spilt something on it yesterday. Much easier to wash the throw than the sofa!
We had really heavy rain yesterday afternoon, the pots and baskets are looking a little bedraggled now but still cheerful. Enjoyed my dip with the little one, it was quite busy but she found a friend who looked quite like my other DGD so she was a little confused at first. Turns out this little girl is a great neice of my next door neighbour, I recognised her Gran.
Anyway, hair cut this morning, the hairdresser is coming here as she has sold her shop and isn't set up with her new cabin in the garden yet. I shall be glad to have my rather unruly locks trimmed, I'm beginning to look like a scarecrow.
Glad you got your bras sorted Ruby. Would be good to hear from Marie, thanks for passing on our good wishes.
Hope your appointment goes well today Poppy.
Busy day for you again Gers.
Thinking of the poorlies.
I'm out for lunch again today with work colleagues to catch up with any gossip before we go back!
Take care. XX9 -

Morning, hugs if you need one, especially Poppy.
We met DD2 and had a sandwich lunch at Sainsbury, it was nice to see her, she is growing her hair, for the past few years she has had most of it razered off, she is very dark, so she has grey patches, it looks quite nice. We caught up with all the news. DGD is still loosing weight but not too much, she is back to eating very small portions of normal food now.
DB went for his siesta when we got home, he had missed 2 days this week. I nipped over with the TV magazine to my neighbour and filled her in with news of our trip.
We ended up having spag bol last night, I had used some of the frozen raspberries to make a raspnerry jelly which will last us at least two more nights.
We had a message from SS thanking us for making the journey down to Milton Keynes. He said that the little one was restless during tuesday night, I guess she had picked up the tension of the day on Tuesday. It is such a shame she will grow up with no memories of her Mum. I know that SS and Louise's family will keep her memory alive.
So this morning we are off to get postcrete for the fence posts and arch. Will have to empty the car boot for them to go in. Hoping that T will be able to dig the holes tomorrow and we can get them concreted in.
Its a sunny morning, forecast to be quite hot, I was staggered at the weather forecast yesterday, how hot it is on the continent just now. I fell for those people who have lost their homes and livelihood. Curtains at the front are closed and the back door open to give us some cool air.
I think supper tonight will be quiche and salad, do not fancy a hot meal.......more of the jelly for dessert.5
