That trance / meditation thing sounds awesome 😎 Enjoy and then come back and tell us about it 😊
The curtains will make a huge difference. You have reminded me that I need to add the thermal linings I bought to the kitchen curtains (they are buried under all the coats that hubby has moved because he’s decorating and I have forgotten about them!). I will add this task to my weekend list 😊
So impressed by your house deposit number! It is getting tangibly close now …. !!! 👏❤️😊
Must look up this tddup! 😂 It’s the new TTs …. 😉

KKIt’s a great reminder to me (& even though I budget every month) to track excess spends as I don’t review properly beyond knowing how my pots have gone down and I will do a full 2022 spending into categories breakdown.Sorry your weekend list just got longer ..
I am planning on going out after and drinking but I am looking forward to this trance dance 💃- will report back - it’s no talking whilst dancing etc etc !!
Yes I have been at this level for a few months - 3 years of frugalism but I couldn’t believe it when I got to £100k .. apparently the second 100k is easier but so far not yet …DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

It's the 'cell' phone costs that get me. One couple was spending 420 on phones per month. I binge watched a few episodes and they were all spending 4k a month...4

I think the thing that fascinates me the most is how much most of them just don't realise how much they're spending. I mean, many of us have been there, else we wouldn't be here 😂 But thousands of dollars a month on clothes, eating out etc, without even realising? Always scary when she adds up how much they'd owe in 5 years if they kept going.
I think back to my initial MSE days with horror sometimes, and I was on a really small scale compared to most of them. I'd allocate say £5 a week for treats, and then listed under that in my cash book would be a 60p chocolate bar here, a piece of cake there... the amount of taxis I used to get when I SO much couldn't afford them! In my case, it was always little things, but it does add up. Very glad I had my LBM before I started earning decent money else who knows what would have happened.5 -
That's the weirdest thing, they generally all have really high incomes. Like 100k high. It must be incredibly expensive to live in Canada. It's not debt the MSE way, if you were on here and had 4 tvs in your house you'd be selling at least 2!5

Indeed. I suppose it's a similar premise to the start of Mr Money Mustache in some ways - you've got a decent enough income, stop being ridiculous with it! And trying to make them decide what are the important things, given none of them are on the poverty line (not the ones I've seen so far, anyway).5

Very glad I had my LBM before I started earning decent money else who knows what would have happened. It took me a while (& spending way too much) once I left to start my new career to realise I couldn’t spend on the same as also I was single as well so back to 100% of bills v 50%.Glad I had to learn the lessons then so when cash comes in now I am controlled
I have never spent thousands of dollars on clothes every month at least - I bought 2 cardigans from the charity shop yesterday and really deliberated - one was a Vera Wang one in a style- long, lightweight and goes over dresses - it was £25 but first clothes spending in months - I have a clothing pot I put £30 in a month no matter what so it slowly builds up.
I am planning though now to go through my entire 2022 spend after Xmas - it’s all in the bank statements and group into the big categories - despite my budgeting monthly I think my entertainment budget will still be high - just cos I am single, live alone and go out in central london . - last night 2 rounds of drinks for 2 of us over the entire evening was £32 but I did get the bus home so saved £18 there and the ticket to the trance dance thing I had prepaid and was £22 so £54 plus £7 travel - £61 for a night out - it’s why I am trying to stayIn more whilst seeing friends - I stopped eating out years ago unless it’s a special occasion.
I am not overspending but be interesting to know my totalsKajiKita said:WelshmansDaughter said:It's the 'cell' phone costs that get me. One couple was spending 420 on phones per month. I binge watched a few episodes and they were all spending 4k a month...
KK
KK I guess it’s when they get the brand new mobiles I guess and pay for monthly and I assume upgrade as soon as they out of contract - but yes that mad. It’s when they are spending $1000 a month on beauty, spa, hair extensions (one in her 20s was spending over $200 on Botox a month!!) who needs Botox in your 20s (if at all but wow)I have been to Canada - it’s amazing - but I don’t remember thinking it was expensive but the £ rate was valuable then.I now buy high end refurbished phones from eBay, music magpie and back market about the £300-400 mark second hand (with guarantees) and have SIM only deals .. saves me a fortune.Occasionally I look at the new iPhones and go ooh especially as I can claim as my own business cost but then £1300 for the phone plus high data charges I need - i add up the 2 year contract total cost and I won’t do it to myself.DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)

I was thinking to myself that I only spend 15 euro a month on my phone completely forgetting of course that I bought the thing outright for £249 🤦♀️ That was just over 3 years ago so I'm not quite at TDDUP standards just yet 🤣🤣🤣6
