You'll need to set it up now if you want your next payment to be taken by it, as you need to allow enough time for it to be stated in the statement that it'll be taken by DD.

If your statement doesn't say it, then make a manual payment.

I dont have a statement yet. So I want to set it up now , it says :
'Tick this box to confirm that you have the authority to setup a Direct Debit on this account. We no longer offer a lower rate of interest to customers who elect to pay by Direct Debit.'
I guess it doesnt apply here?

That's what I said and why you need to set it up now.

If it doesn't say that your payment will be taken on the first statement, make a manual payment.

I have just done it. It says 'your statement will show when your direct debit payment is going to be taken From here you will be able to see the date and the amount of the direct debit payment to be taken'.
So I guess once I get the statement I can decide if I need to pay manually or not? If it will be too late should I also cancel direct debit ?

  • No, you would pay manually and leave the DD in place. It will be up and running by the next statement.
