State Pension deferred

I am the executor of my late brother in laws will and am not having any joy from DWP claiming some of his pension to give to his beneficiary. He died at the age of 71 so had not had any pension for 6 years. He passed away on the 21st April this year and despite many phone calls and letters I haven’t heard a word from them. I am led to believe that I can claim up to 3 months of his pension to give to his beneficiary. Any comments would be welcome

Your relative reached SPA pre 6/4/16 and therefore deferred the old state pension.
