Hi,
I suffer with Sleep Apnea, and i have had this for years.
A friend of mine claims you can claim PIP or some sort of benifit for it, and does anyone know if this is true?
Thanks

Have a look at the PIP Descriptors here: PIP - table of activities, descriptors and points (citizensadvice.org.uk)
See if you can see how many points you would score if the DWP assessed how your sleep apnoea affects you.
You need to score at least 8 points in total for the 10 Daily Living descriptors to receive PIP payments for your Daily Living needs, and at least 8 points in total for the 2 Mobility descriptors to PIP payments for your Mobility needs.
You can receive PIP payments for either your Daily Living needs or your Mobility needs or both. The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.1 -
PIP isn't awarded based on any diagnosis. It's how those conditions affect your ability to carry out daily activies based on the PIP descriptors. This link is worth having a read of so you can try to understand the criteria. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/personal-independence-payment-assessment-guide-for-assessment-providers/pip-assessment-guide-part-2-the-assessment-criteria
