Rights when reinstallation is required

Hi all,

Any precedent for this situation?

I bought a bathroom vanity unit using credit card, after a week I noticed the plinth had blown.

The supplier has offered a replacement but the cost of uninstalling and reinstalling the unit would probably cost close to half of the original price.

Can I ask for a contribution or insist on an in situ repair?

I purchased retail.

A plumber installed, he would want payment to uninstall/re-install.

Unit failed 1 week after installation.

Right to repair or replacement

(1)This section applies if the consumer has the right to repair or replacement (see section 19(3) and (4)).

(2)If the consumer requires the trader to repair or replace the goods, the trader must—

(a)do so within a reasonable time and without significant inconvenience to the consumer, and

(b)bear any necessary costs incurred in doing so (including in particular the cost of any labour, materials or postage).
