Santander Retailer Offers: anyone else fighting to get their cashback?

One of their offers, back in March, was a £25 cashback for taking out Santander's Home Insurance. Payment is supposed to be made after three instalments have been paid. I've waited for this time, then after another month of it not being paid, I started querying it, to eventually be told it had been declined as I didn't meet the terms and conditions. I had had a Santander policy three years ago, but two others in between, so this was a NEW policy! I have been back to them again but they seem to be very slow getting back to me again! Just wondering if anyone else had had issues with them?

I haven't used that particular offer, but all the offers I have used in the last 90 have been paid or are scheduled to be paid.

Not had a problem with that.
But got a bonus last month when I got 8% cashback on ALL my Costa purchases. Rather than the usual one.. Which it has gone back too this month..

    Now should I complain?

After raising the issue again, I hear this morning that the cash-back will be paid at the end of September!  I half wonder if they don't know the difference between 'a new policy holder' and a 'new policy-holder/policyholder'?

It wasn't a mistake. It was stated in the terms of the Costa offer last time that all transactions would count up to the end date. I was pleased too.

  • In March I took out the Avivia Life Insurance for the £75 cashback offer.

Six premiums paid, total value of £30, and a £75 cheque drops on my mat this morning.

Was supposed to be paid into my Santander current account, however, thanks to my Starling account, I have been able to deposit it via app :)

Now to cancel those premiums and take my £45 profit

I took that one out in early February this year and had the £75 paid into my 123 in mid July, just 6 working days after my 6th DD had been taken. Super service  :). Strange that they sent you a cheque but the main thing is that you got your cashback.

I cancelled the DD on the day I had the payment, and also emailed Aviva to inform them the Insurance no longer met my needs. They confirmed by letter a few days later.

It may well be that Nationwide have informed Santander of my forthcoming CASS and so thought it better to send a cheque. I dunno. CASS is due for 6 Sep.

Tried to deposit the cheque in app with First Direct first, however, their app did not like the tear in the cheque caused by the staple they forced through it (old times eh lol).

Starling accepted it first time and should clear tomorrow.

Cheque was received 8 days after my 6th DD, so probably similar timescale to you @colsten

Have emailed Aviva, cancelling my policy. Now just need to wait and see if I get the confirmation letter, like you did

Update: Aviva have emailed me back, confirming that the policy will terminate at the end of this month (cover paid up until then), and that no further premiums will be requested.

    Pretty impressive tbh

Having had to re-raise the query with them, and chase them up several times, I finally got the message that it was going to be paid to me at the end of September! I have just received their mailed confirmation and it doesn't really show total honesty on their part!

"We're very sorry, but our system didn't recognise that the transaction was made and unfortunately the payment wasn't generated. We've now fixed this for you and the cashback will be credited to your account at the end of September 2021."

This doesn't exactly match with their response, below, to my first query about this claim!

"We have checked our records and we can confirm that the criteria hasn't been met, therefore no cashback was generated. "
