FLIGHTS BOOKED VIA FLIGHTS GURU- IF ONE FLIGHT IS CANCELLED CAN WE TRANSFER COST TO ANOTHER BOOKING

I’ve had Delta flights booked to Orlando via Flights Guru which have been changed 3 times due to Covid. The latest flight is booked for October ‘21 but obviously it will no doubt be cancelled. In the interim we have made a further booking for next June with them (using Virgin). As we are unlikely to travel in October I contacted Flights Guru and suggested that since the October flight was unlikely to go ahead, can I transfer the monies already paid (£400+), onto the flight next June. They told me I couldn’t do that as it is 2 separate bookings and that Virgin are still doing flights. I informed them that because of Bidens proclamation we are banned from travelling to the US. Again they said that Virgin are still continuing to do flights. They suggested altering the flight date from October to December but that was a further £350 pp on top (of course the price increases with every change to the booking). They are expecting me paying the balance for the October flight at the end of this month. If I don’t pay the balance, I lose the £400+ already paid. I’m shafted either way I think.

So the flight going out is in October ?
No one knows what will happen in October.
Biden can ban who he wants but it isnt the Booking agencies/airlines fault.
Do you have insurance as it might be needed ?
But if the flights are cancelled then its a different kettle of fish.

If your flight is cancelled then you should be due a refund which you can spend where you like...you would need to pay the balance if due before the flight is officially cancelled to qualify
If the flight is not cancelled then you may be able to either change the flight dates (paying fare difference) or get Delta credit that you can use for another Delta flight within 12 months of original booking date https://www.delta.com/us/en/travel-planning-center/change-or-cancel-your-trip/cancel-change-requirements (subject to your agents fees)
or, as you say, you write off the £400+ already paid

Just so you're aware there are many exceptions to the ban (proclamation). Presuming you are flying out of Heathrow there are many Americans in London, students and people with American family links who are all eligible to travel there. The flight could (and will likely) go ahead and unfortunately it won't be Delta's fault that you're banned.
I would take your money as soon as you can/not pay. There's no way of knowing what will happen between now and December and let's be honest, the chances of us being in a better situation in December compared to now is very slim.0 -

Without wanting to take the thread off on a tangent we've got flights to Seattle next week & phoned to cancel them (flying with BA). However we were advised to 'wait a week & watch the news'. I've since read that when the US opens its borders, it will be probably be a requirement to be fully vaccinated.
But I'm still waiting & watching for an official announcement......0 -

With that said, their fly with confidence allows you to cancel up to the day.0 -
