Your no-claims bonus (usually) lasts for 2 years question?
Options
I have been alternating insurance between my wife and myself for years to maintain 2 lots of no claims discounts with each other as named drivers. My son, who lives at home, now has a company car so I want to insure the car in his name as a non owner on my cars policy. Does the two year rule apply from when the last policy was taken out or the day it ends, as a way to keep his no claims discount?

It might be different now but I used to have a company car and when I left the job and bought a car the insurers of my company car confirmed my (no)claims history to my new insurer and I got max NCB.Sorry I can't think of anything profound, clever or witty to write here.1

It's normally from the end date of the policy as that's when the NCB confirmation is generatedRemember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0

There are no universal laws on NCD and so its ultimate down to the individual insurer... most tend to go on the date of the "proof of the NCD" or the end date of the policy if thats stated. Some insurers if you cancel within a month or so may just return your previous NCD proof rather than issuing you with new evidence with a month or two later date.0
