Universal Credit - Your phone appointment to To verify your identity after Covid-19

Hello guys,

I am self employed currently have been claiming UC for the passed 14 months due to the impact of Covid-19.
Today I receive a message from UC saying

"Your phone appointment to To verify your identity after Covid-19"

Important - you should not ignore this message

I will be calling you tomorrow to help you with your claim to Universal Credit. You can see the details of this appointment in the To-do section of your account. The number I will call from will display as either ‘withheld’ or begin with 0800. I will call you on the contact number you have registered on your account, please ensure this is up to date.

At the time of the call I will need you to have some evidence at hand to confirm your Identity. This should be Photographic ID. If you do not have Photographic ID, you should contact us before your appointment to discuss this.

If the time scheduled for this call is not good for yourself, you need to leave a message here on your Journal advising us of a suitable time to contact you. If you do not answer this call and have not asked us to rearrange this appointment, it may result in your payment of Universal Credit being suspended, your claim being closed and any overpayment of Universal Credit being recovered from yourself.

Kind Regards.

Anyone know what this is exactly? Should I be concerned or is this a routine thing? Also how will I show photographic ID over the phone and has anyone else had this?

Many thanks.

This is routine. All normal checking of claims was suspended last year in order to handle the volume of claims being made. DWP are now working through all claims carry out the checks that would normally have been carried out at the start of the claim.
Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.

During the call they will tell you what evidence they may need and will set you an upload in your to-do list, so that you can provide it.

The OP hasn't logged in since 26 October, so you're unlikely to get an answer... sorry!

What exactly would you like help with? It's better to start your own thread when asking questions because it gets confusing asking questions on other peoples threads.
