I've searched through Google for this but can't find the answer...
Due to fly to Spain at 10.30am 12/08. Arrival time is roughly 3pm
Test done for teenager at 2pm 09/08
Result back in 10/08 (doesn't have time stamp on proof though)

Google tells me that we need proof of negative test within 72 hours on arrival to Spain. I'm starting to worry that we may have taken the test too soon. Does anyone have any experience or anything online which says that it is the actual test taken within 72 hours or the result?

Yep, read that one. Still nothing I can see in there about the 72 hours and whether it needs to be when test was taken or when results were received.

"documentation certifying that you have undertaken a COVID-19 nucleic acid amplification test (NAAT - e.g. PCR, TMA, LAMP or NEAR) within 72 hours prior to arrival in Spain and tested negative."
I read that as the test needs to be within 72 hours of arrival.
I am aware of at least two people that were denied boarding (different destination) as they were deemed to have taken test too soon. The further complication is time difference however I suspect if arrival time is 3pm on 12th they will be looking for a test time after 3pm on the 9th (although that is really 71 elapsed hours)

It is understood to me that you must have taken the test within 72 hours of arrival. And, also, it makes most logical sense as you could have taken the test two weeks before travelling and only receive the certificate two days before travel, hypothetically, which is useless.

As Caz says ensure the time zone is stated on the report for extra clarity. Spain are one hour ahead so you took the test at 3:00pm spanish time.

Does it state a time on the certificate?
  • Ok, thanks. Looking at it, the test was done at 2.50pm on Monday and weirdly we are due to arrive in Spain at 2.50pm on Thursday. So exactly 72 hours. I hope that's going to be ok  :|

Spain's one hour ahead if that's your arrival time that will only be 71 hrs.  Its counted in hours so the time difference is irrelevant.  Enjoy your holiday.
