claiming for a new TV on insurance

Hello everyone
A new television was recently damaged beyond repair by my grandchildren. Is it worth my while claiming on insurance or just buying a new one? I know I will have to pay access but how much will my premiums increase? I have not claimed on house insurance in over 20 years. The television in question was £570
Thank you for any responses

How much is your excess, voluntary + compulsory + accidental damage (you may not have all three)?0

A couple of comments. Do you have a ‘new for old’ policy? If not, the insurer will not pay you £570 or give you a new TV. As suggested above, you need to deduct your excess from the possible settlement before deciding whether it is worth making a claim.Insurers are not known for making free ‘hand outs’. It follows that if you make a claim, you can expect to pay a higher premium going forward.0

have you considered asking for money from the Grandchildren's parents?
If your not willing to or they don't want to pay, then Claiming on your insurance could turn out to be costly due to increased in premiums and payment of excess on the policy.
Not claimed for 20 years doesn't reduce your excess nor the fact it would be a second hand TV"It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

I would expect the parents to replace it.0
