Furlough & annual pay rises

Options
If a company has several staff on furlough and remaining staff get pay rises across the board as usual , will the furloughed staff receive the same pay rise upon their return to work .
Pay rises are not performance related just the usual ones that happen every year ? Thank you

This will be specific to the individual employer.

If there has been a cost of living raise, then you might reasonably expect it to apply to all staff once they return to work.  Furlough reference salary is unchanged.

However, if an employer still has staff on furlough, I would be doubtful whether the company is going to be in a position to support any salary increases.

That's a question for your employer. For those on furlough the question to be also asked is whether they still have jobs.

It depends on the company, the basis of the raises, and possibly on how people were selected for furlough

Generally speaking there is no right to a pay rise.  An employer might well offer  cost of living raises across the board, but equally they might decide to make decisions based on performance this year.

But your employer is the only one who can answer the question for you. And if they have people on furlough still they may not have much in the budget for pay increases anyway.
All posts are my personal opinion, not formal advice Always get proper, professional advice (particularly about anything legal!)

As Thrugelmir said above i also doubt whether any employees still on furlough now will actually be ever coming back to work. Their first priority should be looking for another job.
