What is "Gravel Down"?
Good evening.
Does anyone know why this gravel would be called Gravel Down?
Does the Down, mean something special?

At a guess, a typo - Should probably read "Gravel, Brown".
Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –

Thank you FreeBear.
I telephoned that company and they are not too sure what it is.
But I also just found it on this website.
https://www.mcnairs.co.uk/item/4012/BuildingMaterials/Down-Washed-Gravel-10mm-25kg.html
They said that Down-Washed is a rinsing process that they do at the quarry to rinse out impurities.
Interestingly, these are the only two websites where I have found it on-line and they are both in Scotland.
(I was wondering about this, because apparently I may have some of it in my garden: newly laid.)0 -
But the first site said it was unwashed...?
I thought they were quoting the average builder..."you want some gravel down, mate?" or "no problem, we'll get some gravel down"!

...Blimey, I've just noticed that the first company say they are "Authorised and Regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority"! That's got to be a first for a builders' merchants!0

they are appointed agents for Falcon Funding who are regulated by the FCA.0

Ha ha ha...... you have just made me laugh.
(I needed that. I just has the afternoon from Hell. I have had a terrible Vodafone signal for 3 weeks. Then to cancel the contract...they have to send me a text.... to the phone where the signal is not working. Is Vodafone regulated by anything?)0 -
The term down refers to the sizing. 20mm Down means the product is 20mm down to dust.2
