Hi
I would be grateful if someone could recommend a suitable device where the main sole purpose is to display the days activities (family calendar) in the kitchen
I envisage family members being able to add reminders and events from our phones (or one person can add for everyone ?) And each day when we come to the kitchen we will be able to see things like
9:00 dentist (John)
1.30 Lunch with Mary
Etc
I also would like it to be always on, and maybe sort of flash notifications to grab attention ?
Is there such a thing ? I've started looking at nest Hub but was hoping there is an effective money saving way of doing things ....
Many thanks - much appreciated

I'd probably start with working out what could be done with any old tech you already have. Displaying a calendar isn't a taxing thing to do, so an old tablet or smartphone may do the job.2

You could always go for a very low tech solution - having an actual calendar.:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

It would probably be easier to just get a normal tablet and have it sitting plugged in in the kitchen.
You could even get a display stand for it like they have in restaurants etc.
You can then set it up to be always on, always displaying the calendar app.
Everyone adds to their own calendar which syncs to the shared calendar and there can be a default alert or everyone can set their own.1 -
If you are up for doing a little project and learning something along the way then this is a great and cheap solution -

You can re-purpose an old monitor or flatscreen TV as the display and the PI's are really cheap.0 -
Google's family calendar (as @Neil_Jones says) can be used if there are up to six users.
Or you can create a shared google calendar with more users, giving each user view or view+edit permissions as appropriate. Search for Google's help doc on shared calendars.
If all users have smartphones why complicate it with another device? They can all view the shared calendar on their own phones, whether on not they are standing in the kitchen.0 -
+1 for just sharing the existing individual family members calendars with each other. If you really need a household device, then you could use an amazon fire, etc and link the calendars to another account0

I'd stick with your initial thought and go for the Nest Hub, If it's important do it right instead of messing around with make do's.
At £80 it's not exactly a bank breaker. You could even get a first gen one from ebay for less.Drinking Rum before 10am makes you
