cookie02 said:Saver-upper, how has the rest of your week been? I hope the protein is starting to make a difference for you.
Thank you for asking.
Yes, it does make a difference, doesn't it?
I've had a good few days since last posting.
On Saturday I did have a recommended serving- size piece of Tesco coffee cake (usually I would have had a bigger fraction!). It was OK. Not amazing, especially considering it is the first time I've deliberately chosen to have a sweet treat in the nearly- week I've been doing this challenge. Not enough to make me tempted to binge. I also had a tiny profiterole that my 16yo daughter had made. Google tells me that choux pastry doesn't have sugar in it, but they were topped with melted chocolate, and filled with squirty cream. So not too bad.
FlowerPot I hope the kids are settling down a bit. When my 4 (now all teens and a 20yo) were little, I could only cope knowing that at the end of the day, when they had all gone to bed, I would be sitting down with a cup of tea and a bingeworthy selection of chocolates and biscuits

I'm so impressed Saver. My first week was just one day and I really, really struggled with achieving that! Well done.My weekend wasn't as grim as some have been in the past and I'm chuffed to bits about that. I had a m@gnum on Saturday night after pizza and half a bar of chocolate on Sunday. That's it. It's the most abstemious weekend I think I've ever managed.I find it amazing that anyone can go from a week when I couldn't control my sugary treats a couple of weeks ago, to a week when I managed to get right through to Thursday night without indulging, and then have a moderate amount of sugar for the final three days of the week. Realisitically that's about as good as it's likely to be for me for a while but I'm delighted by it.Better is good enough.3

@Saver-upper, you are an inspiration! Well done! The children are so stressful, i have 3 and all still at home, (20 18 and 14) 2 have autism, youngest isn't in school, ask have mental health issues and when they ask have issues at the same time i get frazzled!
It's been a tricky week!
But so far I've only had1 planned treat (except the glass of coke😩 and I don't even really like it)
@Honey_Bear, well done for managing so many days.
Im going to try again tomorrow, just got to keep trying. This group is certainly making me more accountable and so, trying much harder to resist temptation♥️ ♥️ ♥️🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸Decluttering 2025 So far 403 / 2025

Well done, Saver-upper and FlowerPot 🏅 🏅. Good to hear that the protein is working for you, Saver-upper, and for staying in control of your sugar over the weekend. I hope that makes this week a little bit easier for you. I always struggle on Mondays, if I've really let loose over the weekend!FlowerPoint, it sounds like it's been quite a stressful week for you and you still managed to stick with it and only had the planned treat. I know you what you mean about the glass of c0ke. I had some last week - first time in a long time- and it reminded me of how much I don't like it anymore.Honey_Bear, well done on your restraint this weekend, on top of the sugar-free days last week! 🎉~FlowerPot~ said:
Im going to try again tomorrow, just got to keep trying. And, on that note, I definitely wasn't sugar-free today. My mum left us another cake before she left and I couldn't resist it today. It was delicious, I enjoyed it and it's too popular in this house for me to believe that there'd be anything left to eat by Friday. No regrets. We still have some cake left so I'm going to see how things go tomorrow but I may just aim to be sugar-free from Wednesday-Fri eve this week and have a slice of cake tomorrow.
Hope everyone is having a great start to the week. Good luck!Save 12k in 2022 #26

Flower, the only way I can do this is gradually. I've never expected myself to be able to go from my normal amount to nothing, so a day a week, then two, then three etc. If it were easy everyone would be able to be sugarfree and virtually no-one is.It sounds as though you thorougly enjoyed that cake Cookie - good for you! You were absolutely right to grab it while it was there because if it's that lovely there wouldn't be any left on Friday and then you'd be miserable. It's about perspective in these things.Today was sugarfree and not too hard, I'm pleased to say.Better is good enough.3

It didn't sound like a moan to me, Flower. It sounded as though there are times that sometimes overwhelm you which is normal for all of us. My habit when feeling like that is turning to sugar / comfort food and if you resisted eating a whole cake and a whole packet of biscuits - you're good.Onwards and upwards. I have a cold so while I can taste savory things I suspect sugar wouldn't go anything for me at all, so that's that temptation out of the way. It's the only good thing about a cold.Better is good enough.2

How is everyone this week? Yesterday, I managed to avoid eating 'stress sugar' but I did still have the planned slice of cake in the evening. My goal is to be sugar-free today. It will be tough as I'm offsite in meetings and have a very tempting cafe just around the corner. I'm pretty sure the cake will be gone by the time I'm home though, so that is one less thing to tempt me!Save 12k in 2022 #26

Well done for sticking with your planned treat Cookie, and good luck with today's nearby café. I don't know whether to hope the cake at home is gone by the time you get back, or not!I'm feeling grim today but that's as expected. Belovéd gave me this cold and it's a humdinger so we're both dosing ourselves up and taking it easy.I was feeling very sorry for myself indeed last night and then saw the photograph from Turkey of the man holding his daughter's hand in the rubble. That put things into perspective for me.Better is good enough.2
