Well, I'm pleased to report that today I really fancied something sweet in the afternoon. I opened the cupboard....shut the cupboard....opened it again and finally closed it and walked away. The Stollen slices I bought for Christmas are still sealed in the packet. I had a slice of toast & marmite instead with my coffee....so maybe I was just peckish because it was cold & rainy and not actually craving something sweet. I might have a biscuit with my coffee in a bit though, but we only have Rich Tea in the house, so they are probably not too bad.Making the debt go down and savings go up

I absolutely love milk chocolate but eating dark chocolate works for me in a pinch, so I'm with you Polly Bear, although I don't bother with pulling faces because I'm too busy enjoying it, just less.I haven't been posting so frequently because I haven't been chocolate free for a single day and I hate admitting I don't have as much willpower as I want to have. The weekend was indulgent, but there's little excuse for the m@gnum last night on top of several chocolates. I don't find resisting in the summer quite this hard, so I'm now more convinced than ever that the grey skies, the rain and the cold have a lot to do with my lack of resistance. There's also a slight possibility that the reason we have a feast day / Christmas around the time of the shortest day / longest night is that we actually need it. Something to look forward to in the dreariest of months - November, and something to build up to in December. What I am celebrating is that I'm okay with 3.30pm now, having stuck to having protein three times a day at mealtimes, regardless of when I eat breakfast. I don't need it first thing, but I do have to have protein to get anywhere near 50 - 65g a day. Does anyone else have chicken liver paté for breakfast? (I make it myself and it's dirt cheap if you do that, but hideously expensive if you have to buy it.)Better is good enough.3

Ooh how do you make the chicken liver pate @Honey_Bear?Making the debt go down and savings go up

Delia's recipe here. I don't bother with the onion thing, but I do like sweet pickled cucumbers with it on toast and Belovéd always has chutney. You can up the brandy / cognac quite a bit because it sets solid with all that butter in it. I fry the chicken livers for 3 minutes each side, never have any mace around so I skip that but sometimes remember to put a shake of nutmeg in, and most of the time don't have any thyme either. Frankly it's just butter, booze and liver! Although having said that I do think that the S&P, the mustard powder and garlic if you're that way inclined do add more than a little something. (I've tried making a lamb's liver paté but no-one liked it so this is the one I stick to.) I found two boxes of yellow-stickered chicken livers in Morribunds this morning so they went straight in the trolley!)Better is good enough.2

Yesterday I was sugar-free apart from the one chocolate biscuit at teatime, but I'm so overtired today because I did too much yesterday and this morning I ate half a bar of dark chocolate with 12 Brazil nuts (for the protein) and the combination was rather wonderful. As it was a Morribunds bar of their cheapest dark chocolate it was a darn sight cheaper than a box of chocolate covered Brazils. I may even temper a couple of bars of it and make some for Christmas. Very MSE.

Well they sound tasty. And I'm sure as they have the nuts in, we can overlook the chocolate, and it was dark after all. I had 2 squares of Co-op 85% chocolate earlier, so not as good as you with your nuts. ...lolMaking the debt go down and savings go up

... but you ate two squares and I ate more than that. We're both doing the best we can.

But the squares on Co-op chocolate are quite big....lolMaking the debt go down and savings go up

Oh wow! Dark chocolate brazils sound delicious and well done for the sugar-free day yesterday, Honey_Bear! I might try making some of that 'chocolate bark' which looks like it's basically melted chocolate with fruit and nuts dropped in.Well done for sticking to just two squares of dark chocolate, Making - the co-op squares sound like the L1dl ones which are also very big. I managed to stay sugar-free yesterday and I've been sugar-free so far today. I can hear the sugar gremlins screaming very loudly though so I'm not sure if I'll stay sugar-free for much longer but I will try. We're off work tomorrow and meeting with friends so I'm looking forward to that. There may be cake involved earlier in the day so I guess I really should make an extra effort to stay sugar-free tonight to counter that!Save 12k in 2022 #26
