Protected award claim question

My husband was made redundant with no notice and has had to claim everything owed from the government. He is awaiting a hearing on his protected award claim no date as yet thou even thou its almost a year since he was made redundant. The company went under and PWC acting as administrators told all the creditors they would receive 1p in the pound owed. Someone he used to work with has had their hearing and was awarded 4 weeks money. However they told him that PWC are only paying him very little and nowhere near the £2000 for four weeks money that was owed. Which means that basically if PWC are paying and not the redundancy payment service because the company has folded its basically been a waste of time trying to claim the protected award .He has spoken to the office that is dealing with his claim and also spoke to Acas and basically didnt get anywhere. He along with others thought that that basically once the company is insolvent then the government will cover this award if upheld. All other monies owed to him were paid by the government with no problem .

The award should be 8 weeks capped and then anything previously paid & benefits deducted. (As an example if you had worked 12 years and already had 12 weeks of payment you would get ZERO.  People with 2-7 years service are those that benefit)
The payment will come from the govt.
Anyone having a hearing should be looking for the Judgment to be applied for all workers.

If an employee is made redundant because the employer becomes insolvent the government's Insolvency Service may be obliged to pay the Protective Award. However, they will only pay up to a maximum of 8 weeks' pay, capped at £544* per week from April 2021.
