I’m heading to Antigua next Friday, I need to provide a negative PCR test.
I’m scheduled to get my second dose of the vaccine on Tuesday.
I’m scheduled to get my second dose of the vaccine on Tuesday.
I don’t know if this is a stupid question - can the vaccine interfere with a PCR test? I’m not a medic, but I’m sure I read something, somewhere, about the vaccine being a modified version of the virus that causes the body to produce the antibodies.
If that’s the case, then can getting the vaccine result in a positive PCR test the day after?

I'm also not a medic but my understanding is the PCR test is looking for actual covid-19 virus. It is not looking for anti-bodies - that is a different test. The vaccines all work differently but all the ones in the UK at least do not involve the actual virus (weakened or otherwise).
I'm nearly 100% sure they don't interfere. See this for example from a University in Florida.

PCR test and antibody test are 2 different types of test.
Myth: I heard that getting vaccinated causes you to test positive for COVID-19.
Truth: COVID-19 vaccines will not cause you to test positive on your COVID-19 test. If your body develops an immune response, which is the goal of vaccination, there is a possibility that you may test positive on some antibody tests. Antibody tests indicate if you had a previous infection and that you may have some level of protection against the virus
