Thanks to all who have contributed - so prompt, helpful and comprehensive advice: My grateful thanksYou may be wondering why I am looking at my brother's demise at this late stage - there've been new factors come to light which have piqued my curiosity. Besides I am decades older with a fresh perspective on the matter and persons present. He was described as frothing at the mouth thought by the recounter to be a symptom of a heart attack/failure. There may be other "reasons" I believe - something he may have imbibed?Unfortunately, for other reasons I've been declared by his children as persona non grata (not good Latin). I'll have to tread carefully: the suspect(s) may have chanced on this post.Regardsseven0

If the death went to the coroner's court, there could be a report in the paper local to where he lived.

Agreed, but then why wait 30 years to find out?0

"Wait" isn't the right word if there are things you didn't know before.
Besides, from my own experience family things that I never gave a thought to when I was younger now frustrate me because I no longer have anyone around who can answer questions.1 -
The certificate will show the immediate cause of death. However, I there was any evidence suggesting that he had taken anything it is likely that there would have been an inquest at the time. All posts are my personal opinion, not formal advice Always get proper, professional advice (particularly about anything legal!)0

I'm having trouble finding my brother's death certificate on GRO and no reply from the only person, I have been told, it was given to by her mother. I'm wondering why this is proving so difficult.TBagpuss said:The certificate will show the immediate cause of death. Have you tried the county where it was registered? Deaths are registered at county level first, then on to a central database, so maybe try closer to home.0
