Hi, I moved into a flat at the end of May and set up electricity account on 18th June. (I thought at first that management company will pass on my details to electricity company).

It is economy 7 and there were issues with day rate and night rate. (they had my meter as rate 1 being day rate and rate 2 night one, but it is the opposite) Also, last supplier had totally different readings and it took weeks to set up my account.

Electricity supplier has now accepted the day and night set up of my meter and decided to open my account from 9th July with reading I provided on the 7th July.

What do I do with the weeks from when I moved in till 7th July? Do I need to phone the supplier that supplied previous tenant and set up account for the few weeks?

I also have other problems, as the flat had been empty for a long time before I moved in, and it was renovated. As mentioned previously, readings were very different and I am worried that they will want to charge me for difference between old readings they had.
I have photo of reading from when I moved in, but I didn't know at the time, that there were two difference readings. So I only have day rate (it was displayed when I took the photo). Luckily, the inventory report has the photo of display that is a sum of both rates. So I calculated the night rate, but haven't got the picture of night rate. Am I going got have issues with this? It seems to me that the management company doesn't have a clue that it is dual meter, as they only had total figure, and this is, what is showing on the inventory report too.

Yes, you do need to contact the previous supplier to pay for the electricity you used up until the time you switched.  They will catch up with you sooner or later anyway.  There might be problems with getting them to accept your readings but you should cross that bridge when you come to it and post back here if you need help.

You are liable for the energy used from the date you took control of the property.
You have a set of meter readings that you took and agreed with your landlord / agent on the day you moved in. You can do as you say and subtract the day reading from the total to get the night reading.
You should contact the supplier who was supplying the flat when you moved in, provide the moving-in readings, and arrange to pay what is dure from that date until your new supplier took over.
Your landlord / agent will be liable for whatever energy was used prior to you taking control, including any that was used during the renovations.

    Thank you both.
Will phone them on Monday, hopefully there won’t be any problems with the readings.
