So I'm trying to replace the tubes in he garage, I've pulled them down and cap to cap they measure 8ft (23700mm). I can't seem to find them on any of the usual hardware sites.
They've got 2 prongs and a black bit, is that a T5 type?
Thanks

8ft must be a T12 surely? All the specs are on Wiki: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fluorescent-lamp_formatsTall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.1

You might be better replacing them with LED tubes.
Some useful info here

Oh & maybe drop a zero off your mm measurement 😁😁

hahaha will drop some zeroes.
Any good reputable sites?0 -
Several of the older fluorescent tube types are now obsolete, as they aren't as efficient as modern ones. If you can't get replacements, you may need to replace the whole fixing with something new.
If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.1 -
good luck finding 8ft tubes for a reasonable price. and theres a 50% chance it isn't the tube thats faulty...You'd be better off spending you're money on this

And then add something like this too?She won’t leave the lights on then.

I honestly wouldn't bother with that timer. it's normally only worth fitting a timer to lights if you have a lot of them (eg commercial or industrial) and it would save you money and pay for the timer before the timer needed replaced. for 2 strip lights in a garage the timer will have broken well before it even gets close to paying for itself0
