MSE News: Energy bills set to rocket for millions as price cap is hiked by £139/yr

My energy provider just went bust and I was taken on by BritGas - they are saying 'we advise you wait until we have you all set up before trying to switch' ... or words to that effect...    Is this just to keep me on with them as long as possible? Would anyone recommend getting straight on to find the best deal I can?

My current E.ON tariff (Fix 1yr Sept 2020 v 2) ends on 1st November and both they and MSE Energy Club have emailed about this. I've had a really good look as prices are insane and rising and I did consider going to a variable or waiting. In the end went for another E.ON tariiff (Fix again 1 yr V10) which starts on 2nd November when current one ends. On current usage I'll be paying £25 a month more but this was the best I could find. If for some reason prices drop a lot I'll just pay the early exit fee.
Going from:
Gas - 2.410/kwh  18.900/day
Elec - 15.569/kwh  13.650/day

To:
Gas - 3.843/kwh 17.630/day
Elec - 20.009/kwh 15.523/day
