The boiler (and insulation) grant companies that MSE 'entitled to' links fee into
New to all this, being a victim of the pandemic.
I qualify.
I filled in the info in the 'entitled to' doc that you get from MSE.
However for boiler grants it leads to 2 different companies:
1) if you click through the 'boiler grants'heading then you fill in a form which takes you to a company called Homewrapped (.co.uk). Was about to hit apply when I decided to look them up and they are a private company based in York (i'm in London). Strangely all the first questions were about insulation when I wanted to know about boiler grants (happy with insulation too if any funding leftover).
2) then went via the 'boiler grant' link under the 'warm homes discount' heading. This lead me to a company called boilergrants.org.uk. I thought it was a government one as it had 'org' in it.
Just stopped myself hitting apply again (they only asked about boilers on that one) and decided to check out the comments in Forum.
If I have understood correctly it looks like some companies (others are mentioned on Forum) are applying on behalf of claimants and getting the funding which seems to do several things:
- they guarantee themselves the work but can keep you waiting for ages.
- they are unreliable and think you have no choice
- once application has been made via themselves they ask for extra money from claimants.
Does anyone have experience with either Homewrapped or Boilergrants.co.uk (name of website but smallprint shows a private company name) or can recommend another good company?
I'm in the London area if that makes a difference.
