Cheapest possible marriage in London?

Hi. We're planning our own surprise marriage next summer and, as we're real skinflints, would like to know the cheapest possible way to get married in London. No parties,fancy dress or any other costs are necessary. Just the unavoidable fees to the council like issuing a marriage certificate and other expenses related to the marriage. If witnesses are required, we'll use some friends free of charge.
PS: Don't think the worst of us; we prefer to spend the money on something else! Imagine the waste of money if out marriage didn't work.We've lived together and known each other for over 22 years so we can afford to be a bit cynical about everything, even marriage!!

As far as I'm aware marriage at a Registry Office costs just over £100 in fees to the Registrar.

What you spend on top of that for your clothes etc is up to you.

I heartily agree with not wasting money on a fancy wedding to feed all those relatives that crawl out of the woodwork especially for these occasions.

Have a wonderful honeymoon instead with the money saved or put it into your home.

£30.00 each on the day you give notice
£43.50 on the day of your wedding - £40.00 for the ceremony & £3.50 for the certificate.
