I am not sure that a garage would be able to scan, although they could probably look and tell you whether there is anything which doesn't belong.

However, a private security company or the police might be better placed to identify a tracker, if there is one.

OK I’ll ask, why do you think there may be a tracker on your car?

It’s obvious isn’t it, and knowing why doesn’t alter the advice given which is that a garage needs to help.

    Happy moneysaving all.

No not really, is the OP afraid someone has or thinks their significant other has.

Or do they owe money to a lease company who has instructed recovery agents to find and track for later recovery?

Have they stolen a vehicle which has one fitted?

Trackers vary from magnetic ones attached to the underside of a vehicle and are removable and reusable, they look like a miniature drill case stuck with magnets and about the size of an average iphone, to ones fitted in one of many varying locations throughout the cars interior or engine bay and can vary in size from being as big as a tv remote control to as small as a 10p piece and have their very own power source (meaning disconnecting the main battery will not prevent it sending a GPS, FM or AM signal).

Without proof ownership and photo ID a reputable garage won’t go searching for interior ones.

In an instance such as that, one assumes that a tracker on mobile would be easier than tracking the vehicle.  The apps are often promoted as being for the security of children as parents start to lengthen the lease, but it is not inconceivable that the same types of device could be put to other purposes quite easily.

I don't think a normal garage or even a car alarm installer will have the equipment to find a tracker from any signals it is sending out. They may be able to find one if it is connected to the car's wiring but most cheap trackers are battery operated. You need a specialist security company that specialises in counter-survelliance.
The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.

Well it's on the relationships board, not motoring...
less stressful to not go places you shouldn't be, I guess.

tbh there are more subtler ways of keeping tabs on someone than a tracker on a vehicle.

And no one has ever posted in the wrong location on MSE Forums before?
