in IVA & DRO
Hi all, I "may" have the possiblity of getting a job before my DRO is finished, so my question is this:
At the moment my flatmate is allowing me to live here for a hugely reduced rate while I am on UC, if I do get a job my flatmate has made it clear that I will have to stump up more. So I know I would have to tell the Insolvency Service about my changed circumstances, I would have to give a revised budget to them with the increased money that I will have and the increased payments for living/travel/etc. and they will/may(?) take whats over that budget above £50 as I did the DRO before the rule change, and its dependent on how much I would get paid too. I just really need to know how long the payments to the Insolvency Service last, or is it down to the whims of the Insolvency Service?
It could be 3 years more than the ending of the DRO or less or more, I just dont know. The rules are very complicated and confusing to me so any clarity would be helpful. This is all with the proviso that I get the job in the first place and from what I have heard from a friend who is helping me with trying to get the job, its not guaranteed and all this could be me peeing in the wind.
Thanks in advance.

I think you are confusing DRO`s with Bankruptcy.
The rules are actually quite simple, you do not make any payments to anyone in a DRO.
If your disposable income rises above the £50 (now £75) per month, then your arrangement may be revoked.
They last for 12 months, no more, no less, unless revoked by the insolvency service.
How long do you have left on your moratorium period ?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. I'll try and help with my experience.
Prior to DRO in 2012 in the lead up to it, I was considered on a low salary of 12k for full-time work in hospitality, come the year anniversary in 2013 I got my first ever well paying job at 16k in a different industry, (I remember joking at the time I wanted to frame my first payslip from that job in the bathroom) but, that was a much further commute so all horses for courses - it was fine, I had no problem.
Only today, I've seen an Insurance company in my county, trying to get job applicants for a 9 month fixed term job mediocre pay but with a brucie bonus of 1k at end for completing the fixed term so there may be many obstacles in someone's way at times - along with unprepared change of circumstances which you just have to manage as best you can.1 -
Thanks for the info, its still a bit confusing but I will play it by ear. The DRO was issued in June 2021. Like I said, its less than 50/50 getting the job anyway so who knows.
