I think you should have been given an indication of the costs but that is the only real cause for complaint.
I am suprised they did not get you to sign a document agreeing to necessary charges.

Their is nothing strange about a medic not wanting to deal with insurance companies they will pay late and get less money if you can best to get the money direct from the px especially with something like this.

Last time i went private the receptionist got me to sign a form before proceeding .
Basically agreeing to pay as required .
  • Quick question....how do you know the blood tests were the same ones the NHS docs did first if you haven't recieved the results?

(And I am also not surprised they won't give you the results without payment!)

The invoice/bill would've highlighted what tests were done.

So to summary, you were feeling a bit ill after your vaccine (as many people have been) and saw your GP, who took bloods and found nothing wrong, you didn't believe them so you went to A&E who also found nothing wrong, then, on recommendation of a friend, you decided to see a private consultant, who would naturally repeat the initial blood tests to see if anything was missed, and now your complaining that you have to pay for these tests on some pretence that you didn't give consent for them.

    Have I missed anything.

I expect  a private GP  would use his own trusted  labs rather than trust  NHS results.
I had missed this thread. Very entertaining. I am sure it has COVID aspects that we wouldn't be allowed to discuss. I have heard some funny things about private healthcare but the idea that private blood tests are better?
