Does anyone know what happens to the cash back on the Barclaycard Rewards Cash Back Credit Card when you close your account?
you would think Barclaycard might know, but nearly 1hr30 mins this morning and I’m still none the wiser!
The reason I ask is a family member once had a similar card and when she closed the account there was a cash back balance which was not paid back to her and her account wasn’t properly closed until months later. This too was a Barclaycard.

I simply want to avoid this and close the account. The customer service is really bad both on phone and on the in app chat.
Any advice will be much appreciated!

With my BC Rewards card, the cashback is paid annually. I can't speak for BC, but with Amex if you close the card before the cashback is paid at the end of the year, you lose the cashback you have earned to date. Therefore, I think you would be wise to wait until the end of the year until the cashback has been paid and then close the account.1
