O/S Daily Wednesday 4 August 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Light cloud with sun rising, dry underfoot after a dry day yesterday.
DH and DS1 getting ready for work. I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Yesterday work was manic as usual, half day today so not too bad.
Keep safe and well x

Morning folks. Thanks for starting us off nmlc. There's a wee nip in the air, maybe time to air the woolly jumpers ready for wearing. Watery bluey skies don't promise too much.Yesterday I finally got rid of the garden waste at the tip. A little old man unpacked the bags from my boot for me 😱 I must look decrepit as he was much older than me! On the way back I re-registered with my own medical surgery, that felt like an acceptance of finally leaving Glasgow behind and coming back into the community here. The neighbour up the hill had made his very tasty french onion tart so I grabbed one. His lovely wife offered to help me rearrange the stack of paintings in the garden barn so she's coming this morning. Also coming this morning is my cleaner and then later this afternoon the chimney sweep. An all go day is obviously on the cards here.My thoughts are with you all. Happy Wednesday to everyone.14

Morning folks and thanks NMLC for the start. Another beautiful day with blue sky and sun but apparently there is chance of some light showers later. Yesterday turned out to be a really hot one with sunshine all day long.
A lovely meet up with oldest buddy as usual yesterday and pleasant enough to sit outside in the sun. As she needed to be away by 12.30 for a funeral we decided on a late breakfast, rather than an early lunch, and ordered just before the cut off time of 11.30. I had Eggs Benedict which was absolutely lovely.
I am gallivanting again today. We are having another bus trip day today, just because we can! We usually have one fortnightly but are squeezing in an extra one.. Our last few trips have been to Ilkley so may well settle on Skipton today. Of course lunch and wine will be included as usual with much chatting and putting the world to rights.
No jobs planned for today - there is always tomorrow! Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for our poorlies, poorly loved ones, bereaved and MIA. Take care one and all and stay safe xx

Morning All
The sun is shining this morning, a good day for a walk. I haven't been along the river for a while so will go and see what's going on.
Glad you're settling back in Gers, lovely that you have such a supportive community there.
Good to see you getting out and about again TA.
The little one wasn't keen on staying in the pool yesterday but we had a good 20 minutes, every little helps. They stayed for lunch but she was very tired so I would imagine she was asleep in the car before they got home.
I braved the loft yesterday and found my wetsuit - certainly not an attractive look but it will keep me warmer in the loch, will try it out tomorrow and hope no-one laughs!
Allotment this morning, also have something to return so should get that done too.
Hope you all have a good day, take care. XX13 -
Morning all! Not raining, lumberjack shirt in evidence again today. No more appointments now until Friday and Saturday which is good. I find myself quite anxious about them now if I have more than one or two a week. Ah well, I expect I'll get back in the swing of things before long. OH has Friday off so at least I get a lie in on Friday. This rubbish sleep is beginning to annoy me now. Just booked another tip run for next Monday. I forgot the stuff in the garage last time and a few other things dotted around the garden. Also going to have to take the paper and cardboard, I don't think we can last for another three weeks without overspilling the box. Unless I acquire another one....Watch this space..So today same old, Italian which I have neglected over the last couple of weeks, and back to the back bedroom to see what can go. And a nap. I don't know what it is lately but I find I'm living in the past a lot more, remembering things, thinking about things and I don't know whether that's because I'm clearing the house or because of the last year or what. I do know that the thought of moving to Italy has gradually been expanding flower like in my head, no idea whether that's going to happen...Anyway, onwards, upwards [literally - to the bedroom and beyond!!!] and no more moping...snoozer, I can just imagine what my parents would have thought about that kind of breakfast...Ruby, happy dishwasher day!
And how cool was the detectorist? I've always wanted to have a go with a metal detector, it's probably really boring a lot of the time but the thought of finding something old is exciting...And well done for being a tour guide...TA, love Eggs Benedict...it feels sumptuous to order and naughty to eat for some reason...Camelot, rather you than me in the loch...Gers, don't forget to slow down once in a while. Nanny, congrats to your dgd! Right, I must away before I ramble more so take care today, be nice to yourselves, eat cake...

Just a quick one before we set off to London to see the wee man (and Laura and Brian of course). He's had a torrid couple of days with a painful bout of balanitis. he had the allergy tests yesterday and thankfully they were all negative so he seems to have outgrown his salmon reaction. When he was born he had a course of strong antibiotics in hospital (he was born at home) and Laura and I think it affected his gut for several months.
Not a lot happening apart from that so I'll wish you all a good day especially the poorly and sad.

Good morning everyone
It's a lovely sunny morning here and I have woken up in a great mood. I am already washed and dressed ready for a visit from my friend.
My sister was discharged from hospital yesterday evening and finally got home around 11pm. She was very tired but so happy to be home. Her op was a great success but she needs another 4 sessions of chemo to mop up any lingering nasties. She is not looking forward to that as it made her feel so rotten but at least the end is in sight.
My mum is also on the mend. She was discharged a couple of days ago with lots of painkillers and strict instructions to rest. Of course when I rang her yesterday she was in agony because she had been peeling potatoes! She will never learn. Her husband was very cross as she waited until he had gone out to get some shopping.
I made pulled pork yesterday which was absolutely delicious so there isn't much left. Our fridge is slowly filling up with little plastic boxes of leftovers so I think today I will bake some spuds and everyone can use up the bits and pieces.
That's about it for now, hope you all have a great day whatever you are doing, take care xx11 -
Morning all,I had a better night's sleep last night thank goodness. I actually fell asleep on the sofa reading yesterday afternoon, fortunately woke up & got tea on the go before DH came home
I've defrosted my small freezer & chest freezer, just the fridge freezer now but that shouldn't take long, it's only 2 1/2 drawers.Turns out I have quite a lot of chicken breasts, and a joint of beef I'd forgotten about. I did put some freezer burnt green beans in the green waste bin, & had turkey broth for my lunch ( guess when I made that
) & pulled pork for tea, no complaints, so I've got space for the new meat now. We'll get that when DS1 takes me to pick DGD up, DS2 will get DGS as he is at a footie camp.
I got the date for cousins DD funeral for next week, her Mum & Dad don't want black worn.I need to let DB2 know today, spoke to DB1 last night.Snoozer, hope DGS is better soon. Good about the allergies though, our family has lots between usTaff, it's nice to have a dream & Italy sounds a good one! Gers , good of people to help. TA I love eggs Benedict too, enjoy your trip. Camelot, who cares what the wetsuit looks like if it keeps you warmer. DH used to be in a diving club, just wondering what happened to his wetsuit, I know I've not seen it for years!Might have a salad if it stays nice later, otherwise something from the meat pack. Hope you can all enjoy your day, take care x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)13 -
Morning everyone
It looks set to be a nice sunny day here. Little one will arrive about 10 - we're going to get the bus into town. We'll go and change her library books and then to the park. I'll pack a little picnic to take with us. She loves going on the bus - she always insists - loudly - on wearing her seat belt - 'it's very dangerous isn't it my granny?'
At tea time I'm going to mam and dad's for chippy tea - dad pointed out we hadn't had one for ages. So should be a nice day. Hope everyone else has a good one too

Morning, hugs if you need one.
Dumpling so pleased to hear that your Mum and sister are back home.
Gers, it sounds like your neighbours are pleased to see you home again.
Sunny morning here, its coffee morning at the little chapel, so a chance to catch up with friends. I had a call from our travelling pastor friends, she asked if I would like a birthday cake next week. None of her family have had the vaccination, She has very rarely been out of the house for the last 18 months. It is of course their choice, but I cannot help but feel they are being silly not to have had the jab.
Another load of washing in, thats the third this week........DB drove me nuts last night looking for a tee shirt, found it this morning in the washer!! I had missed it yesterday when hanging the stuff out on the line, its out now!!
I fell asleep last night sitting up, woke with the most awful neck ache about 1am, so chucked two pillows out, neck is still a bit sore this morning. Supper tonight - no idea another freezer dive coming up I suspect.6 -
Morning all
Its a bit dull and overcast here but the sun is due out later so should be nice for my dog walk.
I have an electrolysis appointment today, the hair is much shorter and thinner than before so I think its starting to give up, it certainly feels like something is happening, I made a load of bread and butter pickles yesterday so will take a jar to the lovely lady who does my chin as a thank you.
Taff I know what you mean about appointments I dread them too atm, I am due back at work in Sept and really dont know how I will cope with it all !
Im thinking spag bol or chilli for dinner will see what I feel like later. I have a wash on the go and will hang it out and there is another load to go in. I need to hoover through and have a quick tidy.
I will take the dogs out after my appointment this morning.
Have good days all and take care xxx9
