  • I'd have to lean on their side, you accepted the quote just didn't clarify if the date was 'firm' or not.
How outraged would you have been if they'd not bothered to reserve the date and didn't just turn up?
You should have let them know the date wasn't going ahead as soon as you knew it was pushed back, it sounds like you didn't keep them posted with progress and expected them to hold the date.

Sorry, but I think it's hand in pocket time and you need to consider how you communicate with movers better next time.

Based on what exactly without knowing whether the OP was bound by the contract or had the right to cancel without payment?

Given that the OP hasn't logged in for over a week, I'm not sure they're looking for our further advice.

Would you seriously expect a company who had been told that the completion date was not settled and that there was no formal agreement in place to actually turn up on the speculative date?
They wont last very long in business if they make a habit of doing this
It is actually impossible to make any judgement as there will no doubt be 3 versions of this saga and who agreed what.

I had several removal companies round to quote for a move in 2019. With all 3 I gave a provisional likely completion date - giving a date does not form a contract.  Accepting a quote forms the contract.

I got sent 3 quotes and accepted one via email. Removal companies are well used to quoting and not getting the business. Until the OP tells us more we have no idea if the company are shady and this is sharp practice, or he has broken the contract.
